A large and unusual decorative pendant light of brass and acrylic, mid-20th century, probably 1950s, Italy.

The striking design comprises a flat plate housing brass fins and a white moulded acrylic shade, which is held in place by a brass surround with a central brass trim. The double hanging stems and ceiling canopy are also finished in brass. The scale of the light suggests this may have come from a public building such as a cinema.

The light was formerly lit by fluorescent tubes, but has been left unwired to allow for conversion by your electrician. Typically we suggest wiring is replaced locally to install to ensure it meets your own needs and regulations. UK clients please contact us if you require help to arrange this step (for example, we have installed dimmable LED tubes in similar lights in the past).

The piece is in good original condition with signs of wear to both the acrylic and the brass including light scratches, marks and tarnishing; there are also some old losses to the upper side of the plate - which are not visible when the fixture is installed above eye level - and wear to the canopy.

Approximate dimensions as shown:

L 138cm x D 22cm x H 80cm to top of ceiling mounting

There is some scope for your electrician to cut the stems shorter if required.
