A twelve-light modernist chandelier, model "Sirius", by Kalmar of Austria.
The light is a heavy piece, nicely made, and finished in polished chrome. A striking and unusual asymmetric design, evoking a complex molecular structure, or the Expo 58 Atomium in Brussels. Each of the twelve globes takes one small screw-fitting bulb, which when installed forms part of the overall size and silhouette.
The Sirius lights are beautiful sculptural pieces which, in our experience, do not come to the market frequently. This one is in very nice overall condition, with some signs of wear as one might expect from age and use. There are minor losses to the chrome finish, with some areas of discoloration. The main flex has been replaced with new, of similar type (black round fabric cable).
In order to protect this light for the future we recommend using low heat bulbs. In these images we have shown silver crown bulbs to echo the design of the fixture, but the shape or style of bulb can be changed according to your project.
Approximate dimensions:
The overall size of the light depends on your choice of bulbs, we will quote approximate dimensions both excluding bulbs and including the golf-ball bulbs as shown. The height of the fixture only refers to the main body of the light; the overall height includes the hanging wires and original chrome ceiling cone/canopy (notched by the factory to allow a slim cord to pass through if required).
Diameter: 56cm including bulbs or 48cm excluding bulbs
Height of fixture only: 50cm including bulbs or 42cm excluding bulbs
Overall height from top of canopy to bottom of lowest bulb: approximately 87cm
