Brass table mirror, Italy, early to mid-20th century. Style of Gio Ponti.
A large and decorative piece; well made, with a nicely bevelled edge to the plate. The piece has lots of age-related patina, and we have categorised this piece as in distressed condition to highlight the wear to the mirror backing as shown in image 3. The lacquered finish to the brass has worn with time, leaving a deep brown tone with brighter gold tones in places. The back of the frame is covered in what looks to be cream-colored vellum, and the supporting foot is simply pushed into the desired position, or folded away for transit or storage.
Approximate dimensions:
- Overall when flat: H 46cm x W 33.5cm x D 2cm
- Mirror plate only: H 35cm x W 27cm
- Depth of the stand when supporting foot is turned at 90 degrees (as in main picture): 14cm front to back
The overall projection in use depends on the preferred angle of tilt.
