A large gilt-brass chandelier covered in crystal glass droplets, attributed to Palwa. 1960s or 70s, Austria.
A glamorous and very nicely engineered chandelier of good size. The frame is built around ten lateral arms hanging on a chain of gilt-brass. The original ceiling canopy is in place.
The piece is in good vintage condition throughout with age-appropriate wear and a warm aged patina to the metal. There are occasional replacements of the fine hanging wires, and possibly some of the droplets; due to the age and nature of the glass there may be small imperfections. The lower tier of droplets is a continuous field of similar shapes, without a central ball, which has been removed or was not commissioned by the previous owner. There is a small loop which could be used in the future if you wish. Sourced in Belgium, the light has an original swing tag in French and Flemish describing the finish and the glass (see image).
Wiring & Bulbs:
The gold-covered wire is original and we advise this is tested and replaced if necessary prior to install. The ten arms each end in a lamp-holder taking an E14 screw-fitting bulb and we recommend low-heat bulbs to protect this piece for the future.
Approximate dimensions:
