Large glass flush mount by Kaiser, Germany, mid-20th century.
The light features an impressive piece of handcrafted and heavily textured clear glass - reminds us of tree bark - which is held in place by three screws. The ceiling plate is a neutral silver-lacquered metal, with six ceramic bulb-holders, each taking a small screw-fitting bulb (E14). We advise low heat bulbs are installed to protect the piece (eg LED). The original chrome-plated screws are supplied, but this fixture could be finished using either brass or chrome screws, as suits your project.
Overall good original condition. New wiring will be required to suit your local needs and regulations. There are some losses to the chrome finish of the original fixings, and some fading of the backplate lacquer with use. Due to the age and nature of this piece there may be minor imperfections in the glass. Please note this is a heavy piece which will require suitable installation.
Approximate dimensions:
Dia 49.5cm x H 13cm
Height of glass only: 9cm
There is a gap between the glass and the ceiling of approximately 4cm, allowing light to project beyond the glass.
