A pair of square pendant lights with black lacquered frames, plexiglass diffusers, and brass details. Design attributed to Stilnovo of Italy, 1960s.
Each fixture comprises a square metal hood, with black lacquered finish, over a diffuser of white curved plexiglass (smooth to the outside and textured inside); the two pieces are held by a fine brass surround. The lights each hang on four brass stems, with a square brass ceiling canopy which pushes over the hanging hook and is held in place by a small brass finial.
Both pieces are in good condition, with light signs of signs of age-related wear throughout - see images for examples and overview. There are minor losses to the black finish across both pieces; the acrylic is in good shape, with minor surface wear and the brass trim has a nice aged patina. The wiring appears to have been changed after manufacture, and each light now takes two compact fluorescent bulbs with lighter weight digital ballast; we advise this configuration is tested and rewired or converted in the country of install to ensure it meets local needs and current regulations.
