A pair of cast bronze handles, with geometric relief patterns. Mid to late 20th century, brutalist in style. Germany.
The two handles are both of the same design, nicely made, with the fixings in the centre of the main push/pull panel. The positioning of the fixings means the design can work either way up. Very good original condition, with nice aged patina that's different on each panel, and which we have left as found.
Approximate dimensions:
- Main panels: H 19.2cm x W 14.2cm x D 1.9cm each piece
- Distance from one face of the door, to the front face of the corresponding handle: approximately 5.3cm
- Existing spacer for glass door: approximately 1cm
The pieces have been used in the past on either side of a glass door, however, you may wish to work with your metal-worker or fitter to replace the central shaft to allow the two handles to work on thicker doors, or next to one another on double doors.
Note for your fitter: the central shaft is made with a left hand thread on one end, and right hand on the other, so accordingly one panel takes the right hand thread and one the left. In the current configuration the two panels can be fitted at the same time, by rotating the sleeves which have holes for the purpose.
