Pair of Italian push-pull door handles finished to the front and sides in red enamel decorated with hand-painted designs in white, black and deep brown. Mid-20th century. Manufacture attributed to Siva Poggibonsi. Unsigned.
These are very unusual handles, nicely made, with a handcrafted feel. They are vintage pieces with signs of wear, as one might expect from age and outdoor use, with small chips, light grazes and imperfections to the finish; spots of the enamel have been lightly restored for ease of handling. The brass fixing nuts are unpolished with aged patina. The red of the front has a very slight orange tone, and for us is best shown in image 2; plain black enamel on the inside face.
Approximate dimensions:
H 22cm x W 11.2cm x D 5.3cm
One handle has a fixing bolt of approximately 2.3cm welded into place, see image 5.
