Set of cast bronze door handles in an Art Nouveau or Celtic style. Italian, probably mid-20th century.
Nicely made handles, in very good condition with age-related patina; possibly unused as a rubber spacer which stops the discs rattling around is still in place. The fixings suggest these handles were designed to be used back to back, however they are both the same, and could also be mounted side by side.
The handles are stamped on the reverse Di Pierno & C-CN.
Dimensions: H 19.5cm x W 9.8cm x D 7.5cm (depth from door face to top or bottom of each handle)
In the images the spacer is around 9mm (0.4") deep - perhaps for a glass door - but as the fixings are assembled along a central threaded rod, the silver-coloured piece visible in image four could be loosened, or the rod could be replaced with a longer piece if the handles are to be used on a thicker door. The second handle is held in place by sliding the arms over the fixings and tightening small screws on the underside.
